Cactus Porn

February 24, 2012

If I didn’t have the most adorably curious 2 year old, my house would be littered with Cactus!

I love these thorny little bastards because they bring a little texture to the party,
and they are virtually kill proof…which for a serial plant murderer is good news!

what do you think?
Killer Good or Killer Bad
Thanks so much for all the Project Awesome love yesterday.
I am glad you all like what you see so far.
Trust me when I say its gonna be GOOD…
real, real GOOD
  1. well being from phoenix, sometimes the whole cactus thing can be a little corny! more of a succulents kinda gal. in the same family, just a little more child friendly. still gives off the same boho vibe.

  2. Love them, but have very bad luck when I am near them.
True story- got my eyes dilated at the docs and then had to go to a garden center to pick something up for my mom. I had no close range vision, tripped and somehow wound up grabbing one an getting bloody stabbed to bits. I also fell into a Teddy Bear Cactus while back packing in AZ. Oh those little bastards have barbs!

    I will love from afar.

  3. i LOVE them. love them. but my thumb is so brown that somehow, someway i found a way to viciously murder one. i picked him up the other day, and all his arms fell to the floor. so sad…so true.

  4. I live in Southern California, where cactus and succulents reign. The cactus can be prickly, so I tend to plant more succulents. My garden rule is “no crybabies”. If a plant starts wilting or dying or getting bugs, etc., I yank it and plant more succulents. They are hardy and beautiful, and most of them offer flowers as a special treat from time to time. I love the first photo in your post, but cannot tell whether the room is inside or out. Either way, it is grand.

  5. Just found your blog via Shelter and enjoyed reading through your post. The first picture is fantastic! I just love the style, the color, the feel of the space. I believe i do have a green thumb …but am a cactus killer…indeed, my catuses froze to death on my showroom terrace
